title-description.identical
Title and description are identical. Level: Tip.
When it is raised
Raised when both the resolved title and the resolved description are non-empty and exactly equal after trimming. The title is the first non-empty value of og:title, twitter:title or <title>; the description is the first non-empty value of og:description, twitter:description or <meta name="description">. The comparison is case-sensitive.
What it does to a shared link
A card that shows both a title and a description shows the same text twice, and the description line adds nothing to the headline.
How to fix it
- Keep the headline in og:title.
- Write og:description as one or two sentences that say what the page contains, without repeating the title.
