title.twitter-only
Title comes from twitter:title. Level: Warning.
When it is raised
Raised when the title comes from twitter:title because og:title is absent or empty after trimming. Only the first og:title tag that has a content attribute is read; if its content is empty or whitespace, that tag counts as absent even when a later og:title has a value. It is raised whether or not the page also has a <title> element, and alongside title.ok or title.long.
What it does to a shared link
X's Cards documentation, since withdrawn, described X reading twitter:* tags and falling back to og:*. Facebook's sharing guide documents og:* tags and does not mention twitter:*, and LinkedIn lists og:title among its supported tags with no mention of twitter:*, so neither documents twitter:title as a source for the headline.
How to fix it
- Add an og:title meta tag with the headline every platform should show.
- Keep twitter:title only if X should show a different headline; otherwise remove it, because X's Cards documentation, since withdrawn, described X falling back to og:title when twitter:title is absent.
