description.very-long
Description is far too long. Level: Warning.
When it is raised
Raised when the description is more than 300 characters long. The description is the first non-empty value of og:description, twitter:description and <meta name="description">, trimmed, and characters are counted as user-perceived characters (grapheme clusters), so an emoji or a flag counts as one.
What it does to a shared link
The description is more than 100 characters past the 200 the API treats as the safe length, so its end is likely to be cut from a card.
How to fix it
- Rewrite the description as one or two sentences between 100 and 200 characters; under 100 raises the description.under-linkedin-min tip.
- Put the most important words first, so that any shortening removes the least useful part.
- If the page also sets twitter:description, shorten it too, so og:description and twitter:description carry the same summary.
<meta property="og:description" content="A one- or two-sentence summary of what this page offers the reader, written to fall between 100 and 200 characters.">
