image.missing
og:image is missing. Level: Error.
When it is raised
Raised when none of og:image, og:image:url, twitter:image and twitter:image:src has a value in the first 300,000 characters of the HTML, outside comments, or when the value found cannot be parsed as a URL. For each of those names, only the first tag that has a content attribute is read; if its content is empty or whitespace, that tag counts as absent even when a later tag of the same name has a value. A value with a scheme other than http or https raises image.bad-scheme instead.
What it does to a shared link
No usable image URL was found, so no image is fetched or measured and none of the other image checks run.
How to fix it
- Add an og:image tag to the page's <head> with an absolute https URL to a PNG or JPEG.
- Include og:image even when twitter:image is set. Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp document og:image as the image tag.
- Aim for an image of 1,200 × 630 pixels, which the size checks treat as the target.
<meta property="og:image" content="https://example.com/card.png">
<meta property="og:image:width" content="1200">
<meta property="og:image:height" content="630">
