Image is WebP. Level: Tip.

When it is raised

Raised when the card image loads and its Content-Type header, with any parameters removed and lowercased, contains "webp" (for example image/webp). The format is judged from the Content-Type header, not from the file's bytes.

What it does to a shared link

A client that does not decode WebP cannot show the image, and the card appears without it. The API reports this as a tip. It reports PNG, JPEG and GIF as widely supported.

How to fix it

  1. Export the card image as PNG or JPEG.
  2. Point og:image (and twitter:image, if the page sets it) at the new file.
  3. Serve the file with the matching Content-Type header, image/png or image/jpeg.
  4. Give the new file a new URL so cached copies of the WebP card are not reused.
