bytes.over-x-limit
Image is over 5 MB. Level: Warning.
When it is raised
Raised when the image is larger than 5,000,000 bytes. The size comes from the Content-Length header, because the API stops downloading after 2,500,000 bytes; if the response has no Content-Length, no size check is made.
What it does to a shared link
Facebook documents 8 MB as the maximum og:image size and WhatsApp documents 600 KB for a link-preview image, so this image is many times over the WhatsApp ceiling and may also be over Facebook's.
How to fix it
- Resize the image to 1200×630 px.
- Save photographs as JPEG at a lower quality setting, and flat graphics as PNG with a reduced palette.
- Aim for under 600,000 bytes, and point og:image at the smaller file.
