<meta name="author"> is missing. Level: Tip.
When it is raised
Raised when, in the first 300,000 characters of the HTML, outside comments, the page has no <meta> tag whose name or property is author, or when the first such tag with a content attribute has empty or whitespace-only content. That tag counts as absent even when a later one has a value. An author given only in JSON-LD or in article:author does not count.
What it does to a shared link
LinkedIn's Post Inspector has been observed to report "No author found" for a page that gives its author in JSON-LD but has no <meta name="author"> tag. In the same observation, the card still rendered in Post Inspector.
How to fix it
- Add a <meta name="author"> tag in the <head> with the author's name.
- Keep any JSON-LD author as well; for this check the API reads only the meta tag.
