head.card-late
Card tags start late in the page. Level: Tip.
When it is raised
Raised when the card image has loaded and the first occurrence of the text og:image, og:title or twitter:card (case-sensitive) anywhere in the fetched HTML is more than 4,096 bytes from the start of the document. The match is on the text alone, so it also counts longer names that begin with it, such as og:image:width, and occurrences inside comments or scripts. The offset is counted in bytes of the page's text encoded as UTF-8, which is the same as the response bytes for a UTF-8 page, and the message gives the offset. It is not raised when none of the three strings appears.
What it does to a shared link
A crawler that requests only the start of a page with a Range header does not see tags beyond the part it receives. The 4,096-byte threshold is the API's own; the finding reports where the tags start.
How to fix it
- Move the og: and twitter: tags up to sit directly after <meta charset> and <meta name="viewport">.
- Place preloads, stylesheets, icons and inline scripts after the card tags.
